David Bird is the most prolific bridge writer in the world today, with more than 120 bridge books to his name. He started writing short stories featuring the Abbot and the monks of St Titus in 1978 and the series has run to this day. His books include ten compilations of Abbot stories and further humorous fiction featuring the nuns of St Hilda’s, the Rabbi, bridge cruises, Jack O’Hearts (a bridge bachelor) and the masters and boys of Cholmeley School.
In this book David presents a second collection of bridge tales set in mediaeval Nottingham. They involve Robin Hood and his band of outlaws, the Sheriff of Nottingham and his hapless sidekick, Sir Guy of Gisburne, along with a host of colourful opponents at the table. As always, you can expect a mixture of top-class bridge and sparkling dialogue.
