Location

Gary Conrad

Gary Conrad

For a living Gary followed a career in manufacturing children's toys, managing his own company for over 20 years.

As for bridge, Gary originally learned to play when he was 19. He gave up the game for about 15 years and recommenced in 1981, starting to play more seriously by the end of the 1980s.

Since 2005, his directing and involvement with bridge has moved forward at a very rapid pace. He started directing for Hertfordshire at Cadet Events attending the EBU County Directors Course in 2007. He is now the Chief Tournament Director for both Hertfordshire and Middlesex. He is also an officer of the Hertfordshire CBA. In 2010, Gary was appointed an EBU National Panel Director, officiating at various EBU congresses around the country.

Since 2007, Gary also started helping and now hosting bridge holidays for Mr Bridge, which includes weekends, holidays and cruises, and really enjoys the teaching aspect of these immensely. At about the same time, Gary started directing professionally, now on average 3 or 4 times a week at various clubs.

His wife, Lesley, works with Gary at Mr Bridge events, helping with the administration and scoring as well as encouraging improvers.

When not directing, hosting or playing bridge, Gary still finds time to enjoy reading, gardening, and best of all eating out.
