Will Parsons is married to Sylvia and they have three grown up children and six little grandchildren. He has been playing bridge with steadily increasing enthusiasm for about 16 years, mainly at good club level, and he is currently Chairman of Droitwich Bridge Club. He finally retired from his job as a Purchasing consultant and trainer in 2012 after running down his involvement over the previous 5 years. However, that work had given him substantial experience in training, and he spoke at a number of purchasing conferences all over the world.
Will & Sylvia started coming on Mr Bridge holidays and weekends in early 2008 and soon became hooked. They both joined Mr Bridge as helpers after Will qualified as an EBU club tournament director in 2011. Will & Sylvia both really enjoy playing with different clients and encouraging improving players to increase in confidence and learn to love the game.
Outside bridge they enjoy good food, walking and reading.
This is a new style of event, which is a great opportunity to enhance your learning. There will be four seminars and four set hand sessions.
Overseen by an experienced Mr Bridge host, each of the four seminars will be given by a different host. These four hosts, although already part of the Mr Bridge team, are looking to become lead hosts for future events and this is their chance to showcase their skills.
Starting on Friday afternoon, you can check in from 3pm. Will Parsons and the team will then welcome you at a drinks reception, followed by dinner and an evening duplicate.
Saturday and Sunday will both comprise of a morning seminar and set hand session followed by lunch (a roast on Sunday). Another seminar and set hand session will take place in the afternoon.
After dinner each evening there will be a duplicate for those who fancy a game.
A hearty breakfast will be available on Monday morning before everyone departs. Should you prefer to leave after the Sunday afternoon session this is also possible.
Do remember that this is your event and you can participate as much or as little as you wish.
As with all our events, the seminars and set hands are all prepared by Bernard Magee so that we are able to maintain consistent teaching. Throughout the four seminars, you will learn about bidding further into the auction and doubling. When learning bridge, it is common to really focus on and grasp initial opening bids, however it is often subsequent bids that make players hesitate. These seminars will guide you as how best to act.
Whatever the game we will be able to accommodate you - finding partners or team-mates whenever necessary.
Do remember this is your break - you are free to roam the countryside, or visit one of the many local attractions in the area. Or of course you can simply take a break - watch some sport or lie down for a siesta or visit villages and towns for some shopping!
The hotel would like clients to check out before 11am on the day of departure. Therefore we advise that you check out after breakfast - bags can be stored for the rest of the day.
For those wishing to give gratuities to the staff - we do make available a collection bag on the day of departure - contributions are strictly optional and we hand this bag over to the staff at the end of the event.
