Hilary Levett

I live in Pevensey Bay near Eastbourne with my husband Robin. I have always enjoyed card games, learning solo as a child then when I was about twenty a boyfriend taught me bridge. In recent years I qualified as a director and have been teaching beginners at my local club. For me the fun of bridge is social duplicate. I neither play nor direct at any high power events.

I love to play any card games, word games like scrabble, board games and do crosswords. I was born in the South East but spent over 20 years in Cheshire with my husband Robin, where I ran a boarding cattery. I also puppy walked for the Guide Dogs for the Blind organisation.

I love working for Mr Bridge, playing cards in beautiful places with so many interesting people, who wouldn't?

I'm still relatively new to bridge. Shortly after I retired in 2009 Hilary taught me to play bridge, first Benji, then we started playing at a club where only Acol was allowed and subsequently we played a lot in France where we had to contend with the five cards majors and strong no trump - with different looking cards, and in French. Quite a whirlwind of experience followed by the great opportunity of 'helping' at Mr Bridge events around the country.

I really enjoy playing with Mr Bridge's clients and despite not being particularly competitive very much enjoy doing well, when that happens.

I was a keen runner, cyclist and rugby player and in my latter sporting years very much enjoyed many games of badminton and table tennis. Now my interests are that bit more sedentary, I still very much appreciate new technology and am a keen photographer and traveller.

Our daughter Holly lives nearby in Hastings and we derive a lot of pleasure seeing her and our two granddaughters.
