Lake Garda, in northern Italy, is known for its crystal clear water. At the south end, the town of Sirmione is dominated by the Rocca Scaligera, a fortress with harbor views. The nearby Grotte di Catullo archaeological site includes a Roman villa. On the lake's western shore, in Gardone Riviera, is Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, former home of poet d’Annunzio. The Dolomites frame Riva del Garda, a resort in the north.
Bardolino is an amazingly picturesque town situated South of Garda Town and North of Lazise which has been well known as a tourist resort for over a hundred years. Bardolino wine is cultivated in the green hills behind Bardolino though the traffic-free town is very flat and easy to walk around.
This event will encompass bridge seminars followed by the opportunity to play set hands with the assistance of the experienced team. There will be duplicate bridge sessions every evening as well as some afternoon sessions fitting around the excursions, all played in a friendly atmosphere.
Programme to follow . . .
As well as the bridge programme, there is time to relax and there are a number of optional tours available.
Verona needs little introduction – the city of Shakespeare’s ‘star-crossed lovers’ and two gentlemen; and the city of opera, where epic performances are staged in the 20,000-seat Roman Amphitheatre. Our half day excursion (lunch not included) includes a walking tour of Verona’s historic highlights and allows time at leisure to explore this splendid UNESCO World Heritage Centre independently.

East of Lake Garda is the region of Valpolicella, where winemaking dates back to the Ancient Greeks. Recipient of the prestigious DOC classification, Valpolicella produces a variety of wines, a selection of which we taste in beautiful surroundings. The world class extra virgin olive oils of Lake Garda are so fragrant and delicious that they may be tasted like wine – we sample them for ourselves in Bardolino, the 'Olive Riviera'.
Half day • £31 per person
Visit two charming resort towns on the southern shore of Lake Garda.
