Opening 2NT with two doubletons

I recently had a 20 point hand with 5 hearts, 4 spades and 2 doubletons - one doubleton was a QJ of diamonds.
Because I could reverse to show strength, I opened 1H and after my partner's response of 1no trump I bid 2S to show a strong hand.
Should I have opened 2 no trumps?

  • If you have 20 and 4-5 in the majors it can be hard to find the best fit thereafter. I think 1H was a better choice of opening.

  • A holding of QJ doubleton would usually merit a downgrade. Opening 1S and planning to reverse seems reasonable.
